Selsey shops to support two good causes

A STORE in Selsey has announced the recipients of this year’s Community Support Card,

The Southern Co-operative has announced Selsey and District Carers Support Group and Selsey Community Bus will share this year’s pot.

The groups will have the chance to share up to £25,000 equally between them.

Retail business manager, Marcus Preen, said: “The Community Support Card (CSC) scheme doesn’t cost shoppers anything as all money is donated by The Southern Co-operative but we do need them to support the fundraising.

“To do this, shoppers need to request a free green CSC card, which we give out at the store, and have this swiped each time they shop here. The more the card is swiped, the quicker the funds are raised, it’s that simple.”

Registered charity, Selsey and District Carers Support Group, which has around 300 members, aims to support the needs, both practical and emotional, of all the unpaid carers in the community.

Selsey Community Bus is a voluntary group which provides a local bus service, The Shuttle, to help those in the community who need help getting around, predominantly the elderly, who find it difficult to walk any distance.

Last year, local charities, Youth Dream and Selsey Venture Club each received £12,500 from the scheme, run at the Selsey High Street store.
