MIXED views greeted plans for a large chain store in Chichester this week as the owners of Little London Walk revealed their plans for the site.

The plans were lodged despite four of the remaining tenants vowing to fight to stay in the precinct until the end of their leases.

Chives, Zig Zag, Whitby’s and Cake Fayre hold leases until 2020, and are not prepared to move.

The Observer understands high-street store TK Maxx has shown an interest in the site, but this has been unconfirmed by the company.

The plans submitted by owners PMB Holdings state the 19-unit precinct ‘contains 12 vacant units and a number of struggling tenants’.

Although four traders with long-term leases said they will stay, three of the other tenants are planning to move out over the coming months.

The proposals submitted to Chichester District Council include the partial demolition of the existing arcade, and an extension to enhance retail space.
