Cannabis '˜factory' found after fire call to Rogate

Fire crews discovered a cannabis '˜factory' at a home on Rogate's Parsonage Estate last night (Wednesday, November 16).

A spokesman for Sussex police told the Observer: “Police were called by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to a report of a fire at about 7.30pm last night.”

Fire crews from Midhurst and Petersfield went to the incident.

“On arrival,” said the spokesman, “firefighters discovered the incident had been dealt with by the occupant.

“However, on closer inspection, a fire officer discovered a quantity of cannabis plants in various stages of production in one of the bedrooms.”

Police officers went to the house and arrested a man at the scene.

Dominic Shaw, 36, a musician, of Parsonage Estate, Rogate, was arrested and charged with the production of cannabis.

He is due to appear before Worthing Magistrates’ Court on December 6.
