A ELDERLY woman had to be rescued from her burning bungalow in Fishbourne on Sunday night.

Fortunately the woman was protected by a specialised care system which linked to her smoke alarm and automatically dialled a 24-hour monitoring centre, who then alerted the fire service.

Through the Careline System she had installed, a 999 call was placed at around 8pm and crews from West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service attended and managed to rescue her.

The woman was taken to St Richard’s Hospital by ambulance, the fire service said.

The fire, which started in the kitchen, was extinguished at around 9pm.

Chichester Careline has assisted more than one million people live safely and independently for the last 30 years through it’s telecare system.
