IT was celebration time at Funtington Primary School last week, after receiving a ‘good’ Ofsted report.

“The improvements that have taken place have only happened because of the full support of the parents, the support of the governing body, the hard work of the children and the dedication and expertise of the staff,” said headteacher Kirsty Roman.

The children, parents, staff and governors came together last Thursday (October 17), to celebrate the results of the Ofsted report, with a special cake to mark the occasion.

The report, published by inspector Jacqueline White, praised the ‘strong leadership’ by Mrs Roman, and said attainment in key subjects such as English and maths was rising.

“Pupils are very happy at school, enjoy learning and behave very well,” read the report of the September inspection.

The relationship between the school and parents was described as ‘strong’ and said many parents would recommend the school to others.

“We were also really pleased the report highlights that pupils progress rapidly in their acquisition of knowledge and that the school provides exciting and meaningful experiences that captivate pupils,” said Mrs Roman.

“I am incredibly proud of the outcome of this inspection.”
