PEOPLE now have the chance to make their feelings known about an attempt to keep the A27 Oving crossroad open.
Earlier this summer, Oving Parish Council lodged a planning application with Chichester District Council to keep the lights open and retain the A27 crossroad.
The crossroads are due to be removed as part of the work on the 500-home Shopwyke Lakes site, east of the A27 just after the Portfield roundabout, heading westbound.
However, Oving Parish Council, which created campaign group Leave Oving Lights Alone (LOLA), has taken advantage of planning law, which states that someone does not have to own any land in order to submit a planning application for it.
LOLA’s application has now been validated by the district council.
As of this week it is available to view and be commented on.
Council chairman Sjoerd Schuyleman urged people to comment on the application and also to sign the e-petition.
The e-petition, which has more than 1,600 signatures, can be found at http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/65425|epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/65425}
