‘CONCERNS’ have been raised about a nursing home for the elderly in Chichester.

West Sussex County Council is currently investigating Abbas Combe Nursing Home, a private home situated on Whyke Road.

The county council has overall responsibility for adult social care.

A West Sussex County Council spokesperson said: “We are aware concerns have been raised about Abbas Combe nursing home.

“We are working closely with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), residents’ families and the home’s owner to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents.”

The home is owned by the Lotus Care Group.

A spokesperson told the Observer: “Lotus Care Group has voluntarily referred a case to West Sussex County Council and is fully supporting and assisting in investigations.

“We remain wholly committed to the highest standards of care and the wellbeing of our residents, which is our main priority.”

A statement on the CQC website confirmed: “We are carrying out checks at Abbas Combe Nursing Home using our new way of inspecting services.

“We will publish a report when our check is complete.”

The home cares for adults over the age of 65.
