Chichester care home’s open day brings young and old together

Marriott House and Lodge, in Tollhouse Close, welcomed guests on Friday for National Care Homes Open Day, including the annual summer scruffs dog show and afternoon tea.

Theresa Shell, general manager at the Barchester Healthcare home, said: “It was great that so many people came along to celebrate National Care Home Open Day with us and the dog show was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

“Marriott House and Lodge staff and residents love a good celebration but it’s always extra special when the local community get involved, too.”

Visitors said the open day showed care homes were about living, not dying, and seeing inside had totally changed their view on what it was like to live there.
