Chichester engineer to receive fellowship

AN engineer from Chichester is being honoured for his achievements.

Air vice-marshal John Main, from Chichester, will be rewarded for his outstanding achievements along with Professor Steve Cowley and Professor Dame Julia King.

They will be awarded honorary fellowships from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

John Main will receive the honorary fellowship in recognition of his outstanding service and loyalty to the IET and IET Connect for more than 30 years’ continuous promotion and enhancement of the engineering profession.

John Main has had a distinguished career in 
the Royal Air Force, 
including a wide range of engineering, command and staff appointments, culminating in senior roles as air vice-marshal.

He is being recognised for his efforts in encouraging the next generation of armed forces and civilian personnel to gain professional recognition.

John Main will be recognised alongside Professor Steve Cowley, who will receive the honour for his contributions to plasma and fusion science, and Professor Dame Julia King, who will receive the honorary fellowship in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the engineering profession.
