A PIGEON in peril had to be rescued by firefighters last night.

A rescue crew from Chichester fire station was called after the bird was found trapped behind a gas boiler in Cleveland Road, Chichester.

The 999 call came at 7.56pm yesterday (April 14), with the bird being released by the fire and rescue service by 8.15pm.

The fire brigade said it used ‘small tools’ to release the feathered prisoner.
