Chichester firm backs youth football

A BUILDERS’ merchant in Chichester will sponsor two teams for Chichester City Youth Football Club.

Quarry Lane firm Covers has signed up to sponsor the under-sevens and the under-14s teams.

Chichester City Youth Football Club has long been established as a Chartered Standard Club, focused on providing excellent training and promoting physical fitness for all the young people involved.

With a community award under the FA, it is recognised for its high standards and is working to bring girls’ football to the forefront, as it seeks to expand on its three female teams.

In the Chichester area, it is currently also the only football club to be able to take youth players from the age of six through to adult county football.

Andy Gilbert, chairman of the club and product manager for Covers, said: “My middle son, Ollie, began with the Chichester City Youth Football Club at the age of six, and is now a player at
county-level football for the main club at 18 years.

“He is one of many aspirational footballers who have been coached through from six to 15 years with Chichester City Youth Football Club. When the youth reach 16, they are able to try out for the main senior club teams.”

The Covers’ sponsorship of the under-sevens and under-14s teams will see its logo appear on the new football shirts for the youth teams.

The old kit needed replacing so Covers stepped in to provide the young people with the equipment they need to do their club proud.

A Covers’ spokesman said: “Covers wish the young people the best of luck for the 2014/15 football season, and hope to see the exciting new under-sevens team flourish over the coming year.”
