A CHICHESTER firm is leading the way in creating some of the most energy- efficient office space available.
Kingsbridge Estates has created one of the most eco-friendly offices in the region at Vinnetrow Business Park.
It received one of the highest ratings possible from the Carbon Trust, which judges the energy efficiency of office spaces.
It was rated in the A grade on the energy performance asset scale, which runs from A+ to G, thanks to its smart design of high ceilings, rooflights, and big windows.
And it’s something managing director Mark Hooper is proud to have achieved considering the current economic climate and pressures on businesses to save where they can.
“We didn’t want to make the typical office building,” he said. “The team here have worked overseas, so we have tried to bring some of that learning with us.
“We have tried to bring in all the best bits and keep it really simple, and straightforward, but picking the best bits we have seen in different areas and making it right for Chichester.”
The site was formerly a grain store that was at the end of its useful life before being converted into the office space, in January this year.
Mr Hooper felt it was important make it energy efficient in light of the ever increasing running costs, and the potential for energy efficiency to be taxed in the future.
“There will come a point when a government will want to tax people on the amount of energy they use,” he said.
