The team behind the Chichester Business Improvement District (BID) scheme is celebrating after a wealth of firms within the city have granted its approval.
Chichester City Centre Partnership has confirmed it will take the million-pound initiative forward after a ‘resounding vote’ in its favour.
More than 600 companies including The Observer (which backed the YES campaign) within the city walls were canvassed with a postal ballot this month.
They were asked to determine whether the scheme - which will mean an extra 1 percent in business rates in return for 1.3 million spent on improving the promotion and marketing of the city during the next five years.
Chairman of the city centre partnership, Andrew Finnamore said it would mean a number of ‘vital issuses’ within the city could now be addressed.
