A NEWLY-established Chichester foodbank will be collecting non-perishable food in Sainsbury’s tomorrow (Saturday, August 18).

Volunteers will be at Sainsbury’s in Chichester from 9am-5pm collecting food from the public to feed local people in crisis. “The current economic climate means more and more people are struggling to put food on the table, so we really need citizens to give what they can,” said Joanne Kondabeka, Chichester foodbank manager.

The foodbank, based at Chichester family church will provide emergency food parcels and support to help combat the long-term problem.

Chichester’s foodbank is being launched on September 8 at 7pm at Chichester Cathedral and will be open from September 10.
