Chichester Lions roar for charity with £1,000 fundraising effort

THE Chichester Lions group has raised £1,000 for a charity which helps people with learning disabilities.

The cash was raised by raffling large Easter eggs which were distributed by the Lions to ten pubs, businesses and other organisations including the Fishbourne Centre.

The raffle raised just over £600 and the Lions then topped up the amount to make a total of £1,000.

Lions Club member Brian Attfield said: “We are most grateful to the many local businesses and their customers that helped raise the magnificent total which is going to support such a worthwhile charity.”

President Vince Foote and treasurer Tony Harrision visited the Aldingbourne Country Centre in Blackmill Lane, Norton last month (May) and presented the cheque to centre manager Simon Hutchins and some of the clients who attend the centre.

They both went for a guided tour of the centre and met its resident alpacas and goats and then enjoyed a tranquil walk in the woodland.

The Lions supported the centre when it was first established 34 years ago and are keen to continue supporting it.
