MCDONALD’S are launching a new form of table service at their restaurant on Portfield Way.
It will be among the first in the country to do so, as part of a new digital scheme across the country.
The service will launch when the restaurant re-opens on March 1.
Customers will be able to order their food via a digital kiosk, before being seated where an attendent will deliver their meal direct to the table.
Owner Grant Cooper runs 17 restaurants as a franchise and is delighted with the plans.
He said: “I’m very excited to announce that in March this year my Chichester restaurant will begin offering table service allowing customers to place their order via our new digital kiosks and have their food brought to them.
“McDonald’s has been trialling table service across 14 restaurants in England for the past six months. It’s proved so popular with customers that we’ll be rolling it out across more digitally transformed restaurants and, by the end of this year, hope to offer it in 300 restaurants across the UK.”
14 restaurants have been trialled across the UK, but this will be the first in the Sussex area to have table service.
The scheme is part of McDonald’s grand changes to the franchise in order to compete with other fast food and burger brands.
Other changes have included the introduction of a ‘signature collection’ which will be extended to more than 60 restaurants in the next six weeks.
