For a start The Globe Inn has turned from white to dark blue, and when it reopens next month it will also have a new name.

The pub, located at the bottom of South Street next to the railway station, will be called The Foundry when it opens its doors following a ‘total refurbishment’.

Sports fans will be pleased to know that The Foundry will still show live matches on Sky and BT Sport on a number of new 60 inch TV screens dotted around the pub.

It will serve a ‘modern British menu’ and sell craft ales and world beers, as well as locally sourced coffee.

As well as a total refurbishment of the inside of the large pub, the spacious garden is also undergoing a complete facelift, with extra covered seating being installed.

The pub’s new owner is understood to run a number of other pubs out of the area, and The Foundry is set to be pulling pints in the middle of February.
