CHICHESTER hero Phil Packer has carried the Olympic torch through the streets of London.

The man behind the BRIT campaign to build a centre for youth in the Observer area took the flame from David Walliams this morning (Thursday, August 26).

He got a big hug from comedian Walliams after he had ignited his torch.

Phil, who was severely injured while on active service in Iraq, then walked the route lined with well-wishers through Islington.

He then handed the flame on to Paul Llewellyn, who was responsible for setting up the anti-human trafficking team at Scotland Yard in 2006.
