Comic book success in Chichester
Free comic book day was hailed a success in Chichester.
On Saturday, May 7 CGC Emporium in North Street took part in the annual day which sees comic books being handed out free of charge to fans.
Tom Trinder, director at CGC Emporium, said: “Free Comic Book Day went exceptionally well, far better than Owen and I had hoped.
“The interest was such that we had the shop crowded from 8.30am through to 5pm.
“We don’t have any of the charity figures at this point but people were very generous with their donations, and that was extremely gratifying.”
Any money raised on the day was in aid of mental health charity Mind, which has confirmed that more than £500 was raised.
The comic book shop in Chichester opened its door earlier this year, and Tom said the event was a way of saying thank you to its customers.
He said: “The support we’ve received has been amazing and we have the best customers around.
“Despite my fears that we wouldn’t have enough comics to cope with demand, we have some comics left over and we’re looking at donating them to appropriate schools and libraries.”
