A FAMILY of four and their dog were taken in by the district council after a caravan site was evacuated last night (October 27).

Chichester District Council set up a rest centre in Selsey for residents and holidaymakers on the coastal strip.

One family who were on holiday at Scotts Holiday Village in East Wittering contacted the council for emergency accommodation about 9.30pm on Sunday as they’d been advised to vacate the caravan park.

“Council staff looked after them at our emergency Rest Centre at the Selsey Centre,” said a council spokeswoman. “We were able to provide them with hot drinks and somewhere to stay through the night and they stayed until 8.30am this morning.”
