LIVE web broadcasts will take place for two West Sussex County Council meetings in which councillors will decide their response to a consultation on airport expansion.
The council will hold two meetings in January to decide its official response to the Airport Commission’s public consultation on how communities will be affected by expansion at Gatwick or Heathrow.
Louise Goldsmith, leader of WSCC, said: “I firmly believe that we have to start planning now for whatever decision is made.
“If there is to be a second runway at Gatwick Airport then we need to consider how best to mitigate the effects on local communities and the environment whilst considering how best to make sure the infrastructure and services that are needed for more jobs, new business opportunities, homes, as well as the increase in traffic and transport, are provided.”
WSCC’s environmental and community services select committee members will meet on January 14 and all councillors will meet on January 19.
Both meetings will be webcast live and can be viewed at www.westsussex.gov.uk. A copy of the council’s draft 94-page response is also available on that site.
Anyone wishing to attend the full council meeting in Horsham a 10.30am on January 19 must email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a ticket.
