Katy Bourne is inviting people to put their questions to her ahead of the meeting on Friday July 3.

Councillors from 15 local authorities across Sussex, plus two independent members, make up the Sussex Police and Crime Panel. The role of the panel is to scrutinise the actions and decisions of the Commissioner.

Members of the public can attend the meeting, at County Hall in Lewes, and ask questions in person or they can be submitted in advance by writing to [email protected] or by telephoning 033 022 22538.

Questions can be about any strategic issue relating to policing in Sussex (but not related to an operational issue, or a live case).

It is helpful for questions to be sent in advance, by noon on 26 June if possible. This allows better responses to be prepared, and ensures everyone gets the chance to ask their question. More details can be found on the panel’s website: www.westsussex.gov.uk/pcp.

The meeting will be webcast live at www.eastsussex.public-i.tv/core/portal/home. For those who can’t make it along on the day, it is likely that Public Question Time will start at around 10.45am and last for 45 minutes.

Items on the agenda for discussion include the Commissioner’s Annual Report and Child Sexual Exploitation.

Brad Watson OBE, West Sussex County Councillor and Chair of the Panel, said: “The ability for members of the public to put questions to their Commissioner in person was originally unique to us here in Sussex, although other panels around the country are now starting to adopt the practice. I really hope residents support us by coming forward to raise their strategic policing concerns.”

The meeting takes place at the County Hall headquarters of East Sussex County Council in Lewes at 10.30am on Friday 3 July.
