COUNTY NEWS: Supercars descend on Sussex for popular Italian festival

Beautiful vehicles, fresh food and bumper entertainment are coming to Horsham for the annual Piazza Italia event - which is celebrating its tenth birthday.

The highly popular event kicks off today (Good Friday) with a number of attractions across the town.

Ferraris are the highlight, with the showcase beginning at 10am - and Ferrari Friday takes place in the Carfax between 12.15pm and 3.30pm.

As well as Ferraris of all ages, Ducati motorbikes will pass through the Forum from 10.20am, later setting up a display in the Bishopric.

The vehicles will begin leaving the town centre at 3pm.

Food is another highlight of the Italian bonanza.

An Italian Food Market will fill the town centre air with gorgeous aromas, while pizza, burgers, coffee and ice cream will also be available.

There are also plenty of activities for all the family - including face painting, go karts, a scalextric challenge, street theatre and live opera.

The event continues with more vehicles, food and entertainment tomorrow (Saturday March 26) and Easter Monday.

On Saturday, the ever-popular squadron of Minis return for another year.

They will be joined by an expanded collection of supercars, which will be showcased in Market Square between 9.30am and 3pm.

As always, the celebration of all things Italy concludes with supercar heaven on Easter Monday.

This year will see dedicated displays of Lamborghinis and Maseratis, with a special guest appearance from McLaren.

The cars depart the town centre at 3pm on Monday.

The event will be supporting three local children’s charities - Chestnut Tree House, The Children’s Trust and Winston’s Wish.
