Chichester man due in court following drugs bust

A man from Bracklesham is due in court following a major drugs bust in which Sussex Police netted around quarter of a million pounds-worth-of high purity cocaine.

Charles Smith, 40, of East Bracklesham Caravan and Boat Club is one of six men arrested as part of the operation which took place on Friday (April 1).

Detectives from the force’s Serious and Organised Crime Unit arrested three men in two cars parked in the car park of the Cottesmore Golf and Country Club, Buchan Hill, Pease Pottage, Crawley at 12.30pm.

Police seized a package from one of the cars, which was found to be cocaine.

They also seized a large amount of cash from the other car.

Detectives then went to a business unit at nearby White Herons Farm, Forest Road, Colgate where they found equipment which is used for cutting and preparing cocaine for distribution.

Three men were arrested.

The six have been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and were due to appear in custody at Crawley Magistrates Court today (April 4).

Barry Harlow, 64, of Arlington Crescent, East Preston, West Sussex, Lee Burton-Asante, 43, of no fixed address and

Albert Mouhtiseb, 27, of Pampisford Road, South Croydon, Surrey were arrested at the golf club.

Darren Henwood, 36, of Park Road, Faygate, West Sussex, Andrew Billings, 31, of Horsgate, Horley Lane, Cuckfield, West Sussex, and Charles Smith were arrested at the farm businesses unit.

Sussex Police said there was no suggestion any of the management or staff at either location were involved.
