'˜Death to English' and '˜ISIS' graffitied in Chichester

On the day that four people died in a terror attack at Westminster, the words '˜death to English' were apparently graffitied on a building in Chichester.

The words ‘ISIS’ are said to have also been scrawled on the front of flats in the Hornet, to the east of the city centre.

The latest offensive graffiti is said to have been daubed on the buildings last night, Wednesday, March 23, just hours after a man drove a car into pedestrians in Westminster, leaving a man and a woman dead and dozens seriously injured.

He then stabbed to death policeman Keith Palmer before he was shot dead by police in the grounds of Parliament.

The graffiti in Chichester has already been washed off, reportedly by the owner of the flats.

Tim Matthews, who lives opposite in The Hornet, said: “I saw it this morning when I woke up, it looked like it said ‘Death to English’.

“The same thing was written the day before in the same handwriting.

“After what happened in London yesterday it’s pretty sick that they came back and wrote it again.

“You can also see the words ‘ISIS’ in big letters still, about a metre wide and three quarters of a metre tall.

“It’s just nasty isn’t it, I don’t know what’s happening in the world, it’s scary and this doesn’t help with people’s fears.”

Police are said to be investigating the incidents, which have reportedly been seen in other parts of the city.

Since posting the original story many residents have commented about similar graffiti appearing elsewhere over a period of several weeks.

Emma Patey, who works at Busby and Blue hairdressers nearby said: “A policeman came in here yesterday and said it was right up the other side of town as well, he said there’s been about 100 incidents of people complaining.”

According to reports, seven people have now been arrested over the Westminster terror attack yesterday.
