Goodwood murder suspect re-bailed

The second man arrested for allegedly murdering Brenda James whose body was found on the Goodwood Estate in March has been re-bailed.

John Merry, of St Helen’s Street, Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of murdering the 78-year-old who lived at Lakeside Holiday Park in March.

Merry, 46, was rebailed today (May 19) until June 24.

Mrs James’ body was found in woods on the estate on March 24. She had been reported missing by friends on March 22.

Police believe she was buried at the site near Pilleygreen Hill, between March 17 and March 22.

Her son, Neale James, 50, who lived with her at the caravan park off Vinnetrow Road, is to appear at Lewes Crown Court on June 3 for a plea and case management hearing, having been charged with her murder.
