Police have arrested a man over the appearance of offensive graffiti in Chichester.
According to Sussex Police, a 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of committing racially aggravated criminal damage in Oving Road, Chichester, on Wednesday, March 22.
In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Graffiti written in black marker pen was found on a wall in the road.
“Officers are also investigating 41 other cases of graffiti using racist words from July 2016 to March 2017 in the area.
“The 56-year-old from Chichester was questioned and released without charge pending further investigations.”
As reported, offensive messages such as ‘death to English’ and ‘Islamic State kill the English’ appeared in The Hornet and Oving Road respectively over several weeks.
