Men arrested following fight with knives and bats near Chichester

Two men have been arrested after knives and bats were used in a fight near Chichester on Thursday (April 23).

Two men left the scene in the vehicle prior to police arrival.

An air ambulance attended the scene after seven people were reportedly injured in the altercation.

Two men, aged 30 and 54, hit by the vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment. The 30-year-old sustained facial fractures and the 54-year-old sustained bruises.

Four other men and one woman sustained minor cuts and bruising during the altercation.

Two men were arrested in Maidstone, Kent on Friday.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

Both have been bailed while the investigation is ongoing.

This is being treated as an isolated incident and those involved are thought to be known to each other.
