Police in Arun are appealing for information in catching thieves who have been stealing milk from the area.

Since April 75 thefts of milk from doorsteps have been reported to police - 55 in Bognor Regis, 15 in the Littlehampton area and five in Westergate.

This week police have received reports of milk stolen from Furzedown in Littlehampton (31 August), Mayfield Close in Bognor Regis (1 September), Westergate Street in Westergate (1 September) and Columbine Way in Rustington (1 September), Watson Way in Westergate (2 September) and Blenheim Close in Rustington (3 September).

Sergeant Steve Chalcraft of Arun Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Over the past couple of months numerous thefts of milk from doorsteps have been reported to police.

“Although on the surface this may not seem a serious offence, it is very disruptive for those who have milk stolen.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may know the person or people who are carrying out these thefts.

“Officers will be conducting directed patrols in the areas where the thefts are occuring and would encourage the use of lockable milk storage containers wherever possible.”
