A spokesman for Arun District Council said on social media: "Some unhappy faces around at Arun today! Over the weekend the newly refurbished London Road toilets (Bognor Regis) have been vandalised and a fire started which meant the fire brigade attending and the toilets having to be closed while we fix the mindless damage caused.

"Fitzleet car park (also Bognor Regis) was also a victim of damage. The cables from the new fire alarm systems that are currently being installed have been pulled down and damaged which will delay this work.

"This behaviour is not OK! We are now doing our best to sort these issues out and thank you for being patient while we sort things out.

"We would ask anyopne with any futher information to contact the police."
