Sussex Police said the alarm was raised at 3.22am today (Thursday, May 21) when a loud bang was heard at the western end of The Esplanade close to the junction with Gloucester Road. A Toyota Hilux pickup truck had 'crashed off the road and demolished a wall' before coming to a halt in the car park beyond, police said. The driver was found with the vehicle and was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries, police said. A 24-year-old man from Bognor Regis was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving.
