Police appeal for help after attempted sexual assault in Chichester

Police are appealing for help in identifying three men who are suspected of an attempted sexual assault on an 18-year-old woman in Chichester.

The victim was walking along New Park Road at around 11pm on Tuesday, April 26 when she encountered three men sitting on a bench.

One of the men asked her for a light and money and when the victim replied she had neither the man then grabbed her by the arm saying, ‘You can go when you give us what we want.’

The other two men then proceeded to block her pathway. The three suspects fled when they saw a dog walker coming towards them.

Detective Constable Graham Slack from Chichester CID said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim who no doubt had a lucky escape.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may know who the suspects are and particularly, we would like to hear from the man who was walking his dog and asked the victim if she was okay.”

The suspects are described as white and all in their early to mid twenties.

The man who grabbed the victim’s arm is approximately 5ft 10inches, of slim build, pale complexion with spiky brown hair and was wearing a light coloured long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and blue jeans.

Suspect two is around 6ft, of medium build with collar length black hair and was wearing a light coloured long sleeve shirt and blue jeans.

Suspect three is described as 5ft 10inches with short dark hair and was wearing a worn looking black leather jacket and blue jeans.
