THIS is the man police want to speak to in connection with the theft of a £10,000 Rolex from a Chichester jewellers.

A man went into RL Austen in North Street and took the watch at about 1.45pm on Tuesday, July 24.

After entering the shop, a man went to the display with a sales assistant and while she was getting an item for him, he leant over and took the Rolex before leaving, according to police.

This was the second theft in two days at the jewellers, after a £600 gold necklace was stolen on Monday, July 23. However in that incident the necklace was recovered and three men arrested.

PC Jimmy Upton, from Chichester’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a very brazen theft and we are hoping that someone will recognise the suspect from the photographs we have released.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has information about his identity, who has been offered a Rolex watch for sale, or who knows anything about the theft, to call us on 101 quoting serial 0909 of 24 July. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
