Postman attacked in Lavant

A POSTMAN was threatened and told to hand over his keys when he returned to his van in Lavant yesterday morning (May 22).

At about 9.30am the postman was in West Stoke Road when a man in his 20s, tanned and wearing a hat approached him, grabbed his arm and demanded the keys. However the man was disturbed and ran off down the road with possibly an accomplice.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Officers are treating this as an assault with intent to rob. They have made house to house enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area.”

Any witnesses or those with information should contact police on 101, or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with the reference 0306 22/5.
