Search underway for Bognor Regis betting shop robber

Police are searching for a robber who said he had a gun before stealing cash from a Bognor betting shop.

According to Sussex Police, a man entered William Hill in Hawthorn Road just after 7pm on Wednesday, September 30.

Police said the robber threatened a member of staff and 'stole a quantity of cash'.

In a witness appeal issued today (Monday, November 2), a spokesperson said: "He said he had a gun but no weapon was seen.

"He was described as white, about 6ft 3in and of slim build, wearing what appeared to be a woman's coat too small for him, black shorts and dark trainers [with] white soles."

Police said that, immediately before he threatened the staff member, the robber said he had just been stabbed and fell to the floor.

However, he was 'not seen to have any injuries' and officers 'believe this may have been an attempt to distract the staff'.
