'Suspicious' man arrested in Chichester

A man has been arrested in Chichester's city centre this evening (Thursday, October 15), police have said.

Three police officers were pictured detaining a man in South Street at 6pm.

According to Sussex Police, officers were alerted to a 'suspicious character' in the area.

"A suspicious character has been detained," a spokesperson said.

"We had reason to arrest him."

Police confirmed it was not a major incident, with no threat to the public. The spokesperson was unable to provide any further information at this time.
