UPDATE: Man arrested after being coaxed down from Bognor roof

A man who spent four hours on a rooftop in Bognor has been arrested, police said.

Officers said they spotted a man while out on patrol at 12.15pm matching the description of someone they wanted to speak to in connection with being a wanted person for recall to prison.

The man ran from police and climbed onto a roof in Bedford Street.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police negotiated with the man and he came down off the roof at 4.35pm.

“The 34-year-old man from Bognor was arrested on suspicion of failing to comply with the terms of prison release licence and taken to custody.”
