Police have until 10.30pm today to continue questioning the second man arrested for the murder of a Chichester pensioner.
The second man, 46-year-old John Merry, of St Helen’s Street, Ipswich was arrested on Sunday evening on suspicion of murdering 78-year-old Brenda James.
Mrs James was found buried at woodland on the Goodwood estate last Thursday March 24 after being reported missing by friends.
Her son, 50-year-old Neale James, who lived with her at the Chichester Holiday Park, in Vinetrow Road, Chichester appeared at Lewes Crown Court yesterday for a brief hearing after being charged with her murder on Friday, March 25.
He has been remanded in custody until a plea and case management hearing on June 3 at the same court.
