Crowley discharged from hospital after horror fall at Kempton

Pulborough jockey Jim Crowley has been discharged from hospital following a horror fall at Kempton Park yesterday.

Fellow rider Freddie Tylicki however remains in intensive care after the incident at the 3.20pm race at the Surrey racecourse.

Both jockeys were taken on spinal boards to the major trauma unit at St George’s Hospital, in Tooting, after being treated on the ground for more than an hour as a result of a four-horse fall.

The Injured Jockeys Fund revealed in a statement on Monday night that Crowley, 38, had been discharged ‘to return home with his family’.

It added: “Freddie Tylicki, also involved in the incident, is in intensive care in a stable condition.”

The drama unfolded in the maiden fillies stakes as Tylicki fell on Nellie Dean and Crowley and Electrify, who were travelling behind them, were brought down.

Steve Drowne and Ted Durcan were also unseated, but were able to walk away unharmed.

The meeting’s racing was abandoned for the day.

Crowley was crowned British flat racing champion last month for the very first time, he picked up his gong at Ascot’s Champions Day.
