WITH less than two months to go until the Christmas lights switch-on in Chichester, this year’s sponsor has been announced.
Woodland Crafts Events Management – the firm already behind the city’s Christmas market and garden market – will be the one to helping the evening to go ahead on November 26.
“This is an opportunity for any business in and around Chichester,” said Kim Long, the Chichester Business Improvement District (BID) events and projects manager.
“For Woodland Crafts, it’s a chance to gain recognition in addition to the amazing markets they bring to our city and honestly, without their support, we wouldn’t be able to provide the fireworks.
“It’s a fabulous Christmas present to the city.”
The BID described Woodland Crafts as a ‘keen supporter of Chichester city centre’.
The popular Christmas market frequently sees city streets packed with shoppers and visitors who also look to see the fireworks display over the cathedral.
Paul Bishopp of Woodland Crafts Event Management said: “Chichester is our favourite city among all the places that we work in.
“I have been connected with the city for over thirty years and I love its unique character.
“We’re delighted to be able to show our support to Chichester itself with the sponsorship of the fireworks this year – it’s a way of saying thank you to the city for welcoming us back each year.
“We look forward to bringing the Christmas market to the city again, with even more unusual gifts and ideas for the festive season.”
The Chichester Christmas lights switch-on will be taking place on Thursday, November 26, between 6pm and 7pm with the fireworks starting at 6.30pm.
The BID said the timing was hoped to enable more office workers to join in the festive celebrations after work.
Late night shopping in Chichester city centre will also be on offer from many retailers throughout the evening until 8pm.

Last year’s sponsor for the Christmas lights switch on was city business A-Plan Insurance.
