Dawn is best-dressed at Goodwood Revival

Dawn Gracie’s passion for vintage clothing paid off after she was named the Best Dressed Lady at Goodwood Revival last weekend.

The competition was being run every day for the event by Men’s File Magazine to announce the most stylish men and best dressed ladies.

Dawn said of her win: “I was totally shocked because there were so many fabulous outfits there and people really made the effort, despite the rain playing havoc with our victory rolls and beehives.

“The award was even more important to me than they assumed because I bought the vintage dress on eBay more than five years ago from America and dreamed of wearing it to Revival one year.

“So as a size 18 last Christmas and my 40th birthday looming in March, I decided to lose weight for my vintage-themed birthday party.

“I succeeded and with an extra few months until Revival, I managed to lose a total of three stone (and three dress sizes) with the help of my personal trainer Lucy Rodmell, who I met at my networking group The Mumpreneurs Networking Club.”

The winning outfit itself included the dress from eBay, a 1950’s original which cost £75. Her shoes cost just £6 from St Wilfrid’s Charity Shop in Chichester, and her jacket cost £20 from Chesapeake Mill, Wickham, Hampshire. It was an early 1960’s original.
