Dog rescued from Selsey house fire

A dog suffering from smoke inhalation was rescued from a house fire in Selsey last night.

Three crews from Chichester, Selsey and East Wittering were called to the fire at a property in East Street, Selsey, at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

People were asked to avoid the area, while nearby residents were warned to keep doors and windows closed.

No one was injured in the blaze, but a dog was rescued from the property.

Crews left the scene at 7.10pm.

In a post on Twitter, a fire service spokesman said: “Thankfully there were no injuries as a result of this fire, but our crews were able to rescue a dog from property which was suffering from smoke inhalation.

Fire is believed to have started accidentally, and our last appliance booked away from the scene at 7.10pm.”
