Eagle-eyed birdwatcher spots a good find

A chance find by an eagle-eyed wildlife enthusiast has marked a major milestone for Sussex Ornithological Society.

The grey heron spotted by retired teacher Rex Knight at Lagness, near Bognor Regis, is the millionth bird to be recorded in the society's database.

Rex, from Bognor Regis, has a soft spot for the species and has spent many years monitoring it and other species in Sussex for the National Census organised by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).
