Students from Havant Sixth Form College have once again achieved outstanding A-level results.
With an overall pass rate of 98.3 per cent and 48 per cent achieving the toughest A* to B grades, Havant Sixth Form College has pushed ahead of the national benchmark with their high-flying results.
In addition to achieving outstanding pass rates, the college has announced that around 500 A*/A grades were achieved.
Mike Gaston, interim college principal and chief executive declared: “I am absolutely delighted with these outstanding results.
“Pass rates are high again at 98.3 per cent but what is as important, in the current climate of high competition in the markets for jobs and university places, is the number of students who achieved A* to B grades at 49 per cent.”
He continued: “These grades are the key to our students fulfilling their dreams.
“We expect over 80 per cent of our students to progress onto university with 20 per cent going on to the prestigious Russell Group universities.
“Congratulations to all our A-level students for their hard work and to our staff for their commitment and excellent levels of individual support.”
Suki Dhesi, deputy principal, expressed her delight with the students’ success and the exciting year at the college.
She said: “I am extremely proud of our students as their tremendous hard work and sheer determination to achieve the very best has certainly paid off.
“Staff at Havant Sixth Form College deserve a huge vote of thanks for their fantastic dedication to our students’ success.
“It has been a phenomenal year at Havant; we have entered into an exciting venture with Google enabling learning for students anytime, anywhere via Google Classroom, which has certainly contributed to their fantastic results, we have been shortlisted as a Times Educational Supplement Sixth Form College of the Year and now these superb results!”
Mike Gaston added: “I am particularly pleased that, alongside our close partners at South Downs College, we have enabled young people from the local region to achieve over 2800 full A Level pass grades.
“Based on today’s results, the journey towards our joint vision of excellence for the future has already begun.”
