SEVEN hundred voices from schools around Bognor Regis joined as one for a FAB rendition of Happy Birthday.
The rousing performance from the members of the Felpham and Bognor Regis family of schools ended a special anniversary concert.
It was the tenth annual Big Sing event held by the 15 schools.
Joint organiser Katherine Amaladoss said: “There must have been 600-700 of us, children and adults, singing Happy Birthday. It was a fitting way to mark the occasion.”
The Big Sing began when a group of musicians from across the schools got together to look at various topics of mutual interest.
Mrs Amaladoss said: “They thought it would be a really lovely idea to bring together all the children from around the locality once a year to enjoy a day of singing.
“And, ten years later, the event is still going strong.”
A total of 540 pupils from the schools took part in this year’s gathering at The Arena sports centre off Westloats Lane.
They ranged from those in their first year at school to those in their last.
Each infant, junior and primary school gave a ten-minute performance during the morning.
These included individual and group songs as well as versions by bigger choirs.
Examples included songs from musicals such as Any Dream Will Do as well as Swing Low Sweet Chariot in honour of the England rugby union team.
More modern works such as Only You from the Eighties also featured. There was also a performance by the FAB Boys’ Choir.
The afternoon saw songs performed by Felpham Community College and The Regis School pupils.
The FAB Choir of parents and teachers also made an appearance with Adele’s Rolling In The Deep.
They were led by Emily Barden of Sing Up.
“The children were really excited about that,” said Mrs Amaladoss, who organised the event with Sarah Jewell, an assistant head teacher at The Regis School.
“They didn’t expect to see that.”
Can You Hear My Voice from Les Miserables was the formal finale to the day of melodies.
