Pupils and staff at Lavant CoE Primary School have given a big welcome to their new head teacher.
Adrian King, who replaces Christine Smith, said he was enjoying his first two weeks at the school after moving from Fishbourne CoE Primary School as its deputy head of seven years.
Mr King has been in the education profession for 15 years, completing his training at Chichester College and then working at Kingsham Primary School.
He lives in Bosham, with his wife and three young children, two of whom attend Bosham Primary School.
He said he wanted to build on the good work by the previous head and the staff.
“I want to ensure that we are providing the children with some really memorable learning experiences,” explained Mr King.
“We want children to be enthused about their learning and to be able to leave Lavant with a confidence and a real love of learning and for the future.
“We are looking for ‘wow’ starts to topics to really engage the children and inspire learning, particularly experiences where we can get visitors in.”
Mr King said there were some projects on the horizon.
These included looking at developing the outdoor learning environment as well as looking at having the library refurbished.
