Emergency services called to 'vulnerable person' on the railway between Portsmouth and Chichester
Trains have briefly been unable to move between Portsmouth and Chichester after a 'vulnerable person' was seen on the railway this morning (Friday, April 16).
In a post on Twitter shortly after 10am, Southern Rail said trains were unable to run between the stations 'following reports of a vulnerable person on the railway'.
Passengers on-board trains 'waiting outside or in a station' were asked to remain and 'await further updates from the driver'.
Providing an update at 10.20am, a spokesperson said: "Emergency services have confirmed the person is safe, and trains are going to be able to run through the area at normal speed again very shortly."
Some services that usually run between Portsmouth Harbour and Chichester have been subject to delays and alterations. Passengers have been asked to 'allow extra time for your journey and check before you travel'.
