Emsworth launches neighbourhood plan survey

THE first major step in developing Emsworth’s neighbourhood plan has begun.

The Emsworth Forum, working with the Emsworth Residents’ Association (ERA), Emsworth Business Association (EBA) and other local groups, is calling on residents to fill in an online survey on its website www.emsworthforum.com.

“The aim is to understand what we all love about our town and how we would like to see this protected and improve,” said a spokesman from the Emsworth Forum.

“The final plan will give a framework to the council that they will use to guide development across everything from parking to flooding, education to house building.

“This has to be ready by May, 2016, so the countdown has started and there is a lot to do.”

Parish councils and neighbourhood forums are developing neighbourhood plans up and down the country.

Southbourne and Westbourne are well ahead and have already drafted theirs.

There is a set process to follow to make sure enough people have had their say.

After the results of the survey are collected, a detailed questionnaire will be produced that will highlight some of the points that are picked up from the initial survey.

Afterwards, a draft plan is set to be created that will go out to consultation. The plan must then be approved by Havant Borought Council before a government inspector takes a look at the plan to see it does not conflict with any regional plans. Emsworth people have the final say with a vote in May, 2016.
