THOUSANDS of pounds will be splashed on a hotel refurbishment in the coming weeks.
The branch of Travelodge on the eastbound A27 carriageway near Emsworth is getting £200,000 spent on it.
“We are well under way with our plans to build new Travelodges,” said the Emsworth manager, Damian Purcell.
“We’re investing more than £100m on modernising our hotels for our customers and it is great news that Chichester-Emsworth Travelodge is to benefit.”
The move comes as part of what the company described as a ‘nationwide £100m brand-modernisation programme’.
According to a spokesman from the hotel chain, the revamp is set to ‘totally transform’ the 36-room hotel.
The company’s website informs customers to expect disruption between April 27 and May 15, saying it aims to keep disruption and inconvenience to a minimum.
“The biggest investment in the new room is an upgraded new, luxury, king-size bed called the Travelodge Dreamer which is used predominately by luxury hotels worldwide,” said the spokesman.
“The bed boasts a 952-pocket-sprung mattress and each individual spring is designed to follow the natural contour of an individual’s body in order to provide the correct amount of support and comfort to ensure they receive a good-quality night’s sleep.”
He said as part of the refurbishment, the hotel’s reception would also be updated.
To date, the company said it had modernised 87 per cent of its rooms across the UK, with all rooms now containing the new model bed.
The hotel has been quoted as saying it was the ‘fastest-growing major UK-hotel brand in 2014’, adding it has capitalised on this and is opening 15 new hotels in 2015 across the country.
The Emsworth Travelodge opened in 1996 and employs 12 people. A further addition to the Travelodge will be new truckle beds in family rooms, offering children their own individual bed.
Mr Purcell added: “In 2014, at Chichester-Emsworth Travelodge we enjoyed double-digit growth due to the rise in business and leisure customers switching to us. Our new modernised hotel will ensure that we continue to grow sales and become the favourite hotel for value in the area.”
