Proposals slammed by West Ashling resident

A RESIDENT was outraged over proposals to change the use of land to enable a resident to keep horses.

Chichester District Council’s development control committee north last week heard proposals to alter the use of land from agricultural to equestrian and erect a stabling and access track west of Newells Lane in West Ashling.

“There is unpermitted development all along the road and it’s not worthy of a third-world country in my view,” said Mr Dunnet, from West Ashling.

Funtington Parish Council objected to the application as they said the proposal would be ‘visually obstructive and harmful to the attractive character and appearance of the surrounding rural area’.

Councillor Julie Tassell welcomed the plans and said the land was not agricultural, it did not obstruct any views and granting permission would ‘fulfil their dream of having horses there’. The committee approved the application subject to a condition.
